(2.5 hours)

This walk steps through the last 200 years of Islington’s radical history focusing especially on the area south of the Angel.

As well as revealing very localised historical events and struggles for rights, this walk also brings out a series of international connections between people in Islington and political campaigns in India, France, Russia, Spain and South Africa.

The walk ends at Clerkenwell Green, a popular venue for protests and rallies over the last 200 years. The Green is  described by radicals as the “home of community, commonality and solidarity”, and described by right wingers as “the headquarters of republicanism, revolution and ultra non-conformity.”
