1. A two-hour guided walk exploring the immigrant East End from the 1880s to the 1980s taking in people and places with a special focus on the challenges, lived experiences and cultural creativity of the Jewish and Bangladeshi communities that have populated and enhanced the life of this area over many decades.
  2. Jews were expelled from England in the year 1290 but developments in the 1650s resulted in Jews being able to settle here again. Come on this walk to find out where the new Jewish immigrants of that decade, and after, came from, where they settled and what their lives were like. Some were bakers, some were bankers… Find out which other jobs they did and the challenges in their lives, the institutions they set up to support each other, and what remains of that history that we can still see the traces of today.
